I remember celebrating the Diamond Jubilee in Berwick with the family on the Parade with big Marquees and lots of cake and music and the kids winning the dancing competition.

I was invited to Alnwick Gardens through my school to attend a royal event in 2011. We then went int Alnwick town centre, where the Queen spoke to us. This is where I captured the Queen smiling and Alan Shearer looking on behind

In 2022 I was invited to the royal garden party at Buckingham palace gardens. This was due to my volunteer work through wag and company. Although the queen wasn’t in attendance this year. Charles, Camilla and Princess Anne were all present.

These photos are from my archive on the official opening of Concordia Leisure Centre. The opening took place on Friday 15 July 1977. The photos show HRH The Queen touring the centre along with the late HRH Prince Philip, signing the visitor book and the dancing and gymnastic displays etc that took place on the day.

We were taken to see the Queen at Whitley Bay. No idea of the occasion but it must have been very early in her reign as we were still at the Infant school. I can remember taking egg sandwiches and an orange in an old gas mask case. I think everybody else took egg sandwiches as well because the bus stunk of egg on the way back. I remember that she looked beautiful and it rained all day but that is about it.

Bedlington County Primary School, as it was then known, took us by coach to stand for hours on Whitley Bay Promenade in the pouring rain to see The Queen drive past in a few seconds. Still a memorable experience, as was meeting her 50 years later at a dinner at the American Embassy. That’s me in the middle looking star struck. She spent a few moments chatting with me and was absolutely delightful. I recall that we received written instructions from the Palace such as “ Do not touch Majesty; Do not speak to her first; If she speaks to you address her as “Mam” as in “Jam” not “Marm”

It was a beautiful day in 2001. Half the town turned out to see the Queen. She look very beautiful & happy, taking time to speak to the public and children.
