Great Northumberland 2018 - What's On Guide
Great Northumberland was inspired by the Great Exhibition of the North and showcases the best that Northumberland has to offer.
The eight-week extravaganza started on Saturday 7 July with a spectacular showcase event in Hexham, and culminated in Berwick on Saturday 1 September with a celebration of the unique musical traditions of the county, including the debut performance of a newly-commissioned song ‘The Great Song of the North’.
Even though the summer programme for GN18 has come to an end, there is still plenty to see and do in the great county of Northumberland. Select a date on the calendar to see all events across the county and view some of our favourite events below.

Alnwick Castle welcomes Doctor John Greene to the castle, to amaze with his alchemical experiments and the art of this medieval science. Will he be able to turn dragon's blood into gold? Will he blow up Artisans Courtyard? Is he scientist, magician, swindler or madman?
As the darkness of the night crawled over The Garden a change in the air starts to happen.
Once again Blyth hosts a free spectacular Fireworks Festival at the beach, with superb food, street theatre, including fire-eaters family fun fair, and a fantastic fireworks show.
