Your Platinum Jubilee stories

The stories and photos below were sent to us by local people and groups who celebrated the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee in 2022.

These and other submissions will be added to the thousands of collections held by Northumberland Archives at Woodhorn and made available for future generations of researchers.

Guides, Brownies and Rainbows from Berwick upon Tweed Division were involved with the local community in planting 9,600 bulbs in Flagstaff Park to bloom in 2022 as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. They held a celebration event where the girls took part in a range of activities and enjoyed a picnic and a special cake.

Bedlington library is getting into the Jubilee spirit with their knitted tea-party

Mid Northumberland Squirrel Scouts prepared afternoon tea for their families. The families then came and joined the Squirrel Scouts to celebrate the jubilee. The Squirrels each got a special platinum jubilee badge for their uniform.

1st Cramlington Rainbows celebrated the Queen Platinum Jubilee, with crafts and an afternoon tea party. The girls made crowns, decorated cup and made jubilee bracelet. We had a afternoon tea party, the girls enjoyed playing party games and eating sandwiches and cake!
