Blyth is a town with a rich history, a strong sense of community, and an exciting future. Blyth Celebrates is all about bringing people together to celebrate everything that makes our town special. With a year of exciting events and activities, this programme will showcase our creativity, heritage, and the exciting changes happening in Blyth.

How we got here

Blyth Celebrates is part of Energising Blyth - a regeneration programme designed to renew, grow, and connect our town.

Creativity is at the heart of this transformation, helping to reimagine public spaces, bring people together, and spark pride in Blyth.

Shaped by local artists, creatives, and the community, the programme has already delivered a range of inspiring activity—from artist-led workshops, photography and film projects to public art and The Project Space, a temporary creative hub in the town centre.

What it means for Blyth

Blyth Celebrates builds on the town’s vibrant culture with:

  • Public art and creative events that honour Blyth’s identity

  • Artist commissions - both permanent and temporary

  • Improved lighting and signage for easier exploration

  • Support for new community spaces like the Market Pavilion

  • Opportunities for learning, training, and volunteering

  • A buzzing town centre filled with cultural activity

By connecting key landmarks, heritage sites, and new developments—like the Northumberland Line and cycling routes—public art and improved signage will help people see and experience Blyth in new ways.

The journey so far

  • 2021: Developed public art plans, colour schemes, and signage ideas

  • 2022: Launched creative pilots, The Pride of Place Project, and a community space

  • 2023: Created a long-term plan for public art and brought more creative spaces to life in the town.

  • 2024+: Launch of Blyth Celebrates and a 10-year vision

Looking ahead

Blyth Celebrates is just the beginning. Public art, festivals, workshops, and community projects will continue to play a key role as Blyth grows and evolves.

These creative experiences aren’t one-off moments - they’re part of a longer journey.

By investing in cultural events, artist opportunities, and creative spaces, we’re shaping a town for today and future generations - making Blyth a more creative, welcoming place for everyone.

Join us in celebrating Blyth - past, present, and future.
