Kick off the festive season in Blyth with a full-day celebration of family fun, live performances, and community activities. 


Enjoy local talent on the main stage, meet Santa aboard the Arriva Santa Bus, join Mrs Claus and her elves at Blyth Library, explore a giant snow globe, browse market stalls, and take part in free festive activities. Wrap-up, grab a hot chocolate, and celebrate Christmas the Blyth way. 
 

This is a Blyth Town Council event, presented in partnership with Blyth Celebrates - a celebration of creativity and community running through to March 2026.

What to expect

Enjoy a full day of live performances, festive entertainment, and hands-on activities for all ages. From local stage shows to meeting Santa, exploring the giant snow globe, and browsing market stalls, there’s plenty to see and do, making it a magical celebration of community and Christmas spirit.

​

Keep your eyes peeled for a special Christmas story being unveiled across the shop windows of Blyth. Visitors can also take part in free seasonal activities, including funfair rides, face painting, craft workshops, and walk-around performances from the Pheonix Theatre panto cast and other characters. With so much happening throughout the day, it's the perfect way for families, friends, and the whole community to come together and kick off the Christmas season in style. 

Family & Community Activities

  • Arriva Santa Bus – crafts and meet Santa

  • Mrs Claus & Elves in Blyth Library (9.30am to 12pm) – storytelling, crafts, and letters to Santa

  • Free funfair rides and giant snow globe

  • Market stalls and seasonal food vendors

  • Free Ice Rink – drop-in, no booking required

  • Free face painting (12pm to 4pm)

  • Groundwork UK – recycling advice and Christmas paper crafting

  • Blyth Rotary – bringing festive cheer

  • Doggy Day Care – free puppacinos and festive photo booth

  • Phoenix Theatre Panto Cast – live performances and walkabout entertainment

  • Create a headband and snow wand with Georgia Hill

  • Walk-around characters including a Victorian Magician and The Tallest Elf

  • Free concert by Blyth Community Windband at St Mary's Church (3pm)​

Main Stage Programme

​​

The main stage will host a full day of entertainment, featuring family favourites from Phoenix Panto, sea-shanty classics from the Shanty Singers, and impressive performances from young musicians at the Kewen School of Music. Audiences can also enjoy lively routines from the Linsay School of Dance, powerful vocals from the Ashington & District Male Voice Choir, a set from local performer William Robinson, and a special surprise from Loud Arts Community Voices. The evening rounds off with Good Evening Mr Bublé, paving the way for the magical Christmas Tree Lights Switch-On.

Join a joyful textile workshop using colourful fabrics and collage to create bold, feel-good art. Suitable for all ages.

Step into Blyth’s story with a lively heritage display, packed with hands-on activities and fascinating archive treasures telling some of the wonderful stories of Blyth past, present and future.

Meet Jack Frost

Presented by Georgia Hill

Get ready for some winter magic. Jack Frost comes to life thanks to puppeteer Georgia Hill, and he’s sparkling with snowflakes made by the local community. Come say hi, snap a photo, and see the frosty trickster up close - he’s cooler than you think! (Weather dependent)

Making Light

Presented by Ellie Land & Paul Trickett
